Recorded interview with Mike Alderton, who flew as an air engineer in Hercules and VC10 aircraft, including the 1974 Cyprus evacuation, the 1982 Falklands War and the 1991 Gulf War.

Mike Alderton remembers joining the RAF at Halton as an apprentice engine fitter before becoming a flight engineer on Hercules aircraft. He explains his role as flight engineer and remembers the Cyprus evacuation of 1974. He spent time as an instructor on the Hercules operational conversion unit and participated in the Falklands War. He describes time in the Hercules W.2, and the VC10, including the1991 Gulf War and casualty evacuation.
