Wedding cake doll lucky charm
Air Gunner Jim Chapman hung his wedding cake charm from the gunsight of his Lancaster while on operations. He was shot down on 21 February 1944 but managed to grab his mascot before baling out.
Carried by Dennis James (Jim) Chapman The doll was a decoration on Mr. Chapman's wedding cake, and flew with him as a lucky charm on every operation, hanging from his gunsight. Was grabbed by Jim before baling out of his Lancaster LM310 when shot down on 21 February 1944 near Schweinfurt.
