Recorded interview with Leading Aircraftsman Alfred Martin, who served in the RAF as ground crew before the Second World War, including a posting to 99 Squadron at RAF Upper Heyford.
Alfred Martin joined the RAF in 1928 as an aircrafthand (general duties). He served at RAF Henlow and at the RAF radio school at Flowerdown before being posted to 99 Squadron at RAF Upper Heyford with Hyderabad and Hinaidi aircraft. He was then posted to Ismailia and RAF Hornchurch on his return to the UK. During the Second World War he worked in radio direction plotting for the Air Ministry.
