Recorded interview with Malcolm Lewendon, who served as a pilot in Hercules aircraft during the 1970s and 1980s. His experience included the 1974 Cyprus evacuation and the 1982 Falklands War.
Malcolm Lewenden remembers training as an RAF pilot and Hercules operations with 48 Squadron from RAF Lyneham. He remembers the 1974 Cyprus evacuation, support for the Queen’s 1979 tour of southern Africa and work as a Hercules simulator instructor. He explains aspects of air-to-air refuelling in the Hercules during the Falklands War, a secondment with the Sultan of Oman’s Air Force and his post-RAF career flying airliners with Cathay Pacific.
