Recorded account of RAF service by Aubrey Venables, who joined the RAF in 1934 as an apprentice clerk and served in various administrative and leadership roles until retirement in 1966.
Aubrey Venables joined the RAF in 1934, training as a typist. He served at RAF Eastchurch and RAF Old Sarum and with HQ Advanced Air Striking Force as clerk. He served in administrative roles at Hucknall and Whitehall, at a bomber station and HQ 3 Group and with 221 Group in India. After returning to the UK he was an apprentice school flight commander and an accounts officer in Germany.
