Mike Streten served as an RAF pilot in Lightning aircraft, including qualification as an instructor. He also undertook an exchange tour with the United States Air Force flying F106 aircraft.

Mike Streten remembers RAF pilot training and describes his experience of Lightning operations with 23 Squadron at RAF Leuchars, including interception of Soviet aircraft over the North Sea. He compares the Lightning to other fighters and explains his role as an Interception Weapons Instructor. He recalls flying F106 aircraft with the United States Air Force. He remembers a tour in the Falkland Islands and time in command of 5 Squadron.
