George Black flew Meteor, Hunter and Lightning aircraft. He flew Royal Navy Sea Hawks in the Suez Crisis, was a Lightning instructor, commanded 111 and 5 Squadrons and RAF Wildenrath.
George Black trained as a pilot for his national service, and flew Meteors and Hunters with 612 and 263 Squadrons. He flew Sea Hawks with 802 Naval Air Squadron, including the Suez Crisis of 1956. He trained as an instructor at the Central Flying School, flew Lightnings with 74 Squadron and commanded 111 Squadron. He was chief instructor at the Lightning conversion unit and commanded 5 Squadron and RAF Wildenrath.
