Mike Davies remembers his RAF national service as a radar fitter. He describes his work on CPN-4 Ground-Controlled Approach radar at RAF Wattisham and gives his views on national service.
Mike Davies describes his experience of Second World War bombing and an apprenticeship at de Havilland. He remembers his national service call-up, basic training at RAF West Kirby and radar fitter training at RAF Locking. He explains how his training was inappropriate for his first posting, to RAF Wattisham, comments on aspects of air defence and describes the CPN-4 Ground-Controlled Approach radar. He also gives his views on national service.
