Recorded interview with Ron Batchelor, who completed RAF national service as a radio telephone direction finding operator. He describes his UK service at RAF Tangmere and in Germany at Schleswig-Holstein.
Ron Batchelor remembers his national service call-up, basic training at RAF Bridgnorth and further training at RAF Compton Bassett as a Radio Telephone Direction Finding operator. He describes his work with the ground radar control flight at RAF Tangmere, including calibration of Direction-Finding stations from the air using Varsity aircraft. He describes a posting to Schleswig-Holstein, remembers service life in Germany, and gives an overview of life after national service.
