Recorded interview with Squadron Leader Neil Gibson Harris, 4 April 2015
Recorded interview with Neil Harris, who served as a navigator in Halifax aircraft during the Second World War and subsequently in Avro Lincolns before he retrained as a fighter controller.
Neil Harris trained at RAF Halton from 1937 and served with 48 Squadron, operating Anson and Hudson aircraft. He trained as a navigator in Canada, completed operational training in the UK and flew as a navigator in Halifax bombers with 578 Squadron. He recalls time as an instructor after his operational tour and describes service in Lincoln bombers with 100 and 50 Squadrons. He later re-trained as a fighter controller.
