Brian Spurway trained as an apprentice airframe fitter at RAF Halton and worked on Hunter, Dakota and Hastings aircraft and as an air engineer in Hastings and Hercules transport aircraft.

Brian Spurway trained as a Halton apprentice airframe fitter and worked on Hunter, Dakota and Hastings aircraft. He trained as a flight engineer and flew in Hastings aircraft of 24 Squadron. He comments on Hastings operations, explains the role of a flight engineer and compares the Hastings to his later experience of the Hercules. He remembers his later experience as an instructor and explains his reasons for leaving the RAF.
