Arnold ‘Al’ Greethurst served as a navigator in Lancaster, Lincoln, Mosquito, Brigand, Canberra and Vulcan aircraft during the earlier part of the Cold War, including the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
Arnold ‘Al’ Greethurst was training as a navigator at the end of the Second World War and flew in Lancaster, Lincoln, Mosquito, Brigand and Canberra aircraft during the early part of the Cold War. He flew with 8 Squadron in Aden and participated in the 1956 Suez Crisis, operating from Malta, before converting to Vulcans. He describes various aspects of Vulcan operations, including Exercise Skyshield and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
