Recorded interview with Dick Kharegat, who served as a pilot in Canberra, Vulcan and Victor bomber aircraft, and in B-52 bombers during an exchange tour with the US Air Force.
Dick Kharegat describes his experience of Cold War Canberra bomber operations with 32 Squadron in Cyprus, and of Vulcan and Victor bomber operations with 617and 139 Squadrons in the UK. This includes Quick Reaction Alert (QRA), the use of Blue Steel missiles and the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. He describes an exchange tour with the United States Air Force, flying B-52 bombers from Castle Air Force Base in California.
