Recorded interview with Harry Irons, who was a gunner in Lancaster and Halifax aircraft. He recalls bombing operations against targets in Germany and occupied Europe, anti-aircraft fire and fighter attacks.
Harry Irons remembers his training as an air gunner during the Second World War and describes his experience of bombing operations in Lancaster and Halifax aircraft. He remembers anti-aircraft fire, the experience of being in a gun turret for an extended time and attacks by German fighters, including an occasion on which he shot down a Junkers 88. He also recalls time as an instructor after his first operational tour.
