Recorded interview with Corporal Frank Frederick Few, 23 April 2016
Recorded interview with Fred Few, who served as an electrical technician with the RAF Airfield Construction Branch during the Second World War, serving in the UK, Faroe Islands and Iceland.
Fred Few joined the RAF’s Airfield Construction Branch and worked with airfield lighting at RAF Dyce. He remembers how a German Junkers 88 aircraft landed at Dyce, with two members of the crew defecting. This aircraft was later transferred to the RAF Museum. Few went on to serve at Sandavagur in the Danish Faroe Islands, at RAF Metheringham, where he worked with the FIDO fog dispersal system, and in Iceland.
