Recorded interview with Aircraftsman 1st Class Ronald James Drake, 10 November 2016
Recorded interview with Ronald Drake, who served in the RAF as a clerk in the UK and with a squadron in the Middle East immediately after the Second World War.
Ronald Drake remembers civilian life during the early part of the Second World War, and how he joined the RAF as a clerk. He describes the sea journey to Basra and his work in the orderly room of a search and rescue squadron, where he was required to learn on the job due to a lack of trade-specific training. After returning to the UK he worked at 11 Group Headquarters.
