Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II
The F-35 Lightning II is a supersonic multirole stealth combat aircraft, and the most modern combat aircraft to be used by the RAF. While primarily built in the United States, the F-35 programme was developed between several different nations and relies on a global supply chain, including components manufactured in the UK.
This 1:1 scale model is of the F-35A variant, designed for conventional take-off and landing. The RAF currently operates the F-35B variant together with the Royal Navy. The B variant is capable of short take-off and vertical landing and is optimised for operating from the Uk’s Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers. In June 2025, the UK government announced plans to procure 12 additional F-35As for the RAF, which would be able to carry the B61 tactical nuclear weapon.
