Recorded interview with Sergeant Richard William Hilling, 20 July 2018
Interview with Dick Hilling, who served as an RAF psychiatric nurse. During the 1991 Gulf War he worked with psychiatric casualties and, with Gordon Turnbull, with released prisoners of war.
Dick Hilling joined the RAF as a nursing attendant and trained at Halton and the RAF Hospital at Wroughton. He went on to train as a psychiatric nurse. During the 1991 Gulf War he served with 22 Field Hospital in Bahrain. He remembers preparing for the deployment, battle-stress prevention talks for aircrew, work with psychiatric casualties and with Gordon Turnbull on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and released prisoners of war.
