Recorded interview with Squadron Leader David Piper, 24 August 2018
Dave Piper was a Canberra pilot between 1980 and 2006 with 360 and 39 Squadrons. He was also a flying instructor during his full-time RAF service and as a reservist.
Dave Piper trained as a pilot in Canberra aircraft and flew with 360 Squadron from RAF Wyton. He describes the squadron’s electronic warfare training role, war role scenarios and Canberra performance. He was an instructor at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, training officer with 100 Squadron and commanded 45 (Reserve) Squadron at RAF Finningley. He then flew Canberra PR9 reconnaissance aircraft with 39 Squadron. He continued to fly as a full-time reservist instructor.
