Peter Harding flew Canberra bomber aircraft and Wessex helicopters with the RAF and Royal Australian Air Force and was Chief of the Air Staff and Chief of the Defence Staff.

Peter Harding flew Canberra bomber aircraft with 12 Squadron from RAF Binbrook. He flew Canberras during an exchange tour with the Royal Australian Air Force, completed several ground tours and commanded 18 Squadron in Germany with Wessex helicopters. He served in the Ministry of Defence, commanded RAF Bruggen and later became Assistant Chief of Air Staff, Assistant Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Air Staff and Chief of Defence Staff.
