Recorded interview with Flying Officer Joseph Sudell, 30 January 2019
Joseph Sudell served as a navigator in Lancaster bomber aircraft at the end of the Second World War. He participated in air attacks on Dresden and Operations Manna and Exodus.
Joseph Sudell joined the RAF as a navigator during the Second World War. After training in Canada he joined 149 Squadron, operating Lancaster bomber aircraft on operations over Germany. He comments on the use of navigation aids such as Gee and H2S and remembers the Dresden raid of February 1945. He also participated in the air dropping of food to civilians in the Netherlands and the repatriation of former prisoners-of-war.
