Recorded interview with Squadron Leader Alan Swan, 17 May 2019
Interview with Alan Swan, who served as an RAF armourer and bomb disposal specialist, including service during the 1982 Falklands War. He describes his bomb disposal work during the conflict.
Alan Swan trained as an armament apprentice at RAF Halton and worked initially with Hunter and Lightning aircraft of 111 Squadron at RAF Wattisham. He served at various other locations, including with 3 Squadron in Germany, before training in Explosive Ordnance Disposal at Chattenden. He describes his deployment to the Falkland Islands during the 1982 conflict and the work of his team in dealing with unexploded weapons on the islands.
