Gerry Norwood served as an RAF Lancaster tail gunner with 460 Squadron during the Second World War. He describes his experience of bombing operations over Germany, including the dangers involved.
Gerry Norwood trained as an air gunner during the Second World War and flew Lancaster aircraft with 460 Squadron from RAF Binbrook. He describes his experience of night operations over Germany, including fighter attacks, searchlights, anti-aircraft fire and a crashlanding on one occasion when returning from an operation. He remembers the experience of being in the Lancaster’s rear gun turret, D-Day and his later role as a motor transport officer.
