Rachel Swann explains how she was serving as deputy chief constable for Derbyshire Constabulary at the time of operations around Whaley Bridge dam in August 2019. She recalls being notified of the emergency, the evacuation of people from the area and the coordination of a multi-agency response. She remembers how an RAF Chinook helicopter placed large sandbags to strengthen the dam, and the importance of the operation to local people.
