The Trenchard Archive
The papers of Marshal of the Royal Air Force First Viscount Trenchard (1873-1956) were Accepted in lieu by HM Government from the estate of the late Patricia, Viscountess Trenchard in 2018 and allocated to the RAF Museum.
The Archive offers an extensive and unique record of Lord Trenchard's career. It spans his early military experiences in the Royal Scots Fusiliers, service with the Royal Flying Corps and the RAF’s Independent Air Force during the First World War, his positions as Chief of the Air Staff and Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Force through to his later political, industrial, and commercial activities until the end of his life.
