500lb Medium Capacity (MC) Bomb Mk 4

The Medium Capacity series replaced the poorly performing General Purpose range as the standard bomb used by the RAF from 1941.

Their ability to penetrate the ground enabled them to destroy water, electricity or gas mains and demand for these bombs often outstripped supply. The fins provided for stability during the bombs' fall, while the body contained the explosive charge.
