Interview with David McLoughlin, who served as an RAF doctor and in senior roles with RAF Medical Services. He remembers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and during the Covid pandemic.
David McLoughlin remembers training as an RAF doctor and a posting to RAF Gatow in Berlin. He explains the responsibilities of doctors in the RAF, the relations between doctors, aircrew and commanders and changing attitudes to mental health. He describes his experience of deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, his experience of the Covid pandemic and the RAF’s response to the crisis, including medical support and maintaining the RAF’s operational commitments.
