Recorded interview with Air Commodore David Best, 27 January 2022

Dave Best was an RAF pilot in Phantom aircraft and a test pilot working on various projects, including Tornado and F35. He also worked in various planning and command roles.

Dave Best flew Phantom aircraft with 74 Squadron at RAF Wattisham before training at the Empire Test Pilots School (ETPS). He then worked on development of Tornado GR1 and F3 aircraft, and later on development of the F35 aircraft. He was an ETPS instructor and commanding officer of ETPS. He worked on test and evaluation policy, was chief test pilot at Boscombe Down and supported operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
