Recorded interview with Squadron Leader Mathew Stannard, 10 February 2022

Mathew Stannard served as an RAF pilot in Tornado and Typhoon aircraft, and on secondment to Virgin Orbit as a pilot in 747 aircraft used in a satellite launch role.

Mathew Stannard describes his experience as an RAF pilot in Tornado GR4 aircraft with 9 Squadron at RAF Marham, including operations over Libya and Afghanistan. After training as a test pilot with the US Navy at Patuxent River he joined 41 Squadron, flying Typhoon aircraft for trials of the Brimstone missile. He was seconded to Virgin Orbit, where he flew a Boeing 747 aircraft modified for the launch of satellites.
