Sherry McBain was an RAF nurse with the Critical Care Air Support Team (CCAST), evacuating casualties from Afghanistan. She participated in operations following Hurricane Irma and during the Covid pandemic.
Sherry McBain joined the RAF as a medical assistant, trained as a nurse and served with the RAF’s Critical Care Air Support Team (CCAST). She explains the team’s role in the evacuation of casualties from Afghanistan and the mental impact of this work. She participated in the RAF’s response to Hurricane Irma in 2017, the Covid pandemic and Operation Pitting. She reflects on her sexuality in relation to RAF service.
