Gordon Leith worked at the RAF Museum from 1984 until 2021. He describes various aspects of his work, including changes in the museum and his time as the museum’s librarian.
After completing a history degree at the University of Oxford, Gordon Leith trained as a librarian and worked at the Royal Aeronautical Society in London. He then moved to the RAF Museum at Hendon and remembers working with maps, technical documentation and periodicals before becoming the museum’s librarian. He remembers working on exhibitions, visits to RAF bases and changes in the museum over time, including the introduction of computerised records.
