Tripod for Flak Binoculars
Flak binoculars were used during daylight to identify aircraft and provide initial heading information for German anti-aircraft artillery.
More detailed information was provided by optical range finders or Wurzburg gun laying radar. By 1944, a third of Bomber Command’s operations were conducted in daylight, making optically guided flak a much greater threat.
