Recorded interview with Flight Lieutenant Joanna Salter, 4 July 2022

Interview with Jo Salter, who served as a pilot in Tornado GR1 aircraft, including operations over Iraq during the 1990s. She was later an instructor on the Hawk training aircraft.

Jo Salter joined the RAF as an engineer officer and transferred to pilot training when a change in rules allowed her to do so. She trained as a fast jet pilot, converted to the Tornado GR1 and flew the Tornado with 617 Squadron. She comments on media attention and operations over Iraq as part of Operation Warden. She returned to RAF Valley as an instructor on the Hawk training aircraft.
