RAF Alor Star, Malaya, 1940

RAF Alor Star was located in the Kedah Province of Malaya in 1940. RAF Alor Star was the airfield that Squadron Leader Arthur Stewart King Scarf returned to on 9 December 1941, at the end the operation for which he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross.

Squadron Leader Scarf was the only member of the RAF to be awarded the Victoria Cross for service in East Asia during the Second World War.
