Francis Merino trained as an RAF engineering officer and studied at Cambridge for an MPhil on sustainable development, through a Chief of the Air Staff Fellowship. He comments on his experience of the Falkland Islands, explains his decision to write his thesis on sustainable energy in the Falklands and emphasises his ongoing interest in environmental issues and planning. He comments on the transferability of this work and on energy efficiency.
