USAF flying scarf, 1980s

United States Air Force flying scarf presented to William Pixton by the 355th Tactical Fighter Squadron during his time on exchange with the unit in the early 1980s.
The 355th Tactical Fighter Squadron were stationed at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base in South Carolina operating the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt. A silhouette of the Thunderbolt is embroidered in blue thread on the scarf. The scarf was to be worn on special occasions.
