Eye Patch
Eye patch issued to pilots in the event of dropping a nuclear weapon.
In the event of a nuclear attack, pilots were at a high risk of being blinded by the nuclear flash. The eye patch was to be worn over one eye and once the flash had passed, the patch was to be moved across so that the pilot still had vision out of the one eye not exposed to the flash. This patch was issued to William Pixton a Jaguar pilot stationed at RAF Brüggen, Germany in the 1970s.
