Interview with Andy Green, who served as an RAF pilot in Phantom and Tornado F3 aircraft and broke the sound barrier on the ground in 1997, driving the purpose-built Thrust-SSC.
Andy Green flew Phantom fighter aircraft with 19 Squadron in Germany and 56 Squadron at RAF Wattisham. He converted to the Tornado F3 interceptor aircraft and flew with 23 Squadron from RAF Leeming, including operations over Bosnia. He explains how he joined the Thrust-SSC project and how the project developed towards a supersonic land speed record. He then returned to the Tornado F3 as a flight commander with 111 Squadron.
