Remotely Piloted Air System pilot's badge

The Remotely Piloted Air Systems pilot's badge was first issued in 2013. the badge differs only slightly from the RAF aircraft pilot's badge in that the leaves of the laurel wreath are of blue silk thread rather than the brown for aircraft pilots.

The introduction of the RPAS pilot's badge in 2013 provoked debate inside and outside of the RAF as to whether a drone operator should be entitled to a pilot’s badge. The badge was discontinued in 2019, all RAPS pilots now wear the standard RAF pilot’s wings with brown laurel wreath.
