42 Course, 7 Flying Training School, flying overalls badge, 1990s
Badge designed by Flt Lt Phil Mobbs for 42 course at No. 7 Flying Training School, RAF Church Fenton. 42 Course being the first course to train on the new Short Tucano.
The badge is a play on words using the Toucan bird as a device to represent the Tucano aircraft. The aircraft in the bird's beak is a Jet Provost which was being replaced by the Tucano. The ‘test pilots’ name reflected the fact that the aircraft was still being developed and there were a few corners of the flight envelope yet to be discovered.
