On completion of his navigator training, Malcolm Cogle was posted to No.640 Squadron at RAF Leconfield in February 1945, completing several bombing sorites. He was later posted to No. 76 Squadron in July 1945 which was a transport squadron flying the Douglas Dakota. Initially stationed in the UK the squadron moved to India in September 1945, Malcolm Cogle remained with the unit until March 1946.
