Navigator's flying log book of Flight Lieutenant Frederick William Arthur Hendry, 29 June 1942-8 May 1945
Flight Lieutenant Hendry served as a navigator in the RAF, flying two tours of operations firstly with No. 467 Squadron and then No. 97 Squadron. After the war he remained in the RAF and was instrumental in setting up 'RAF News', the RAF's newspaper which is still published to this day.
The log book records training in the United States (Pan American Airways Navigation Section), 29 June-10 August 1942; No. 467 Squadron, 20 June-16 December 1943 and No. 97 Squadron, 1 October 1944-8 May 1945. Flt Lt Hendry was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in July 1945 on completion of his second tour of operations with No. 97 Squadron. His medal group is in the RAF Museum's collection, reference X008-8787.
