Interview with John Stansfield, who was a pilot in Victor bomber aircraft during the 1960s. He remembers flying in the Far East, the Cuban Missile Crisis and Cold War scrambles.
John Stansfield was a pilot in Victor B1A bomber aircraft with 15 Squadron at RAF Cottesmore. He remembers a deployment to RAF Tengah and his experience of a double engine failure, leading to a priority landing at Butterworth. He remembers the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, quick reaction alert and scramble takeoffs. He trained as a flying instructor at RAF Little Rissington and flew as an instructor at RAF Church Fenton.
