No. 4 Squadron RAF flying suit badge
Badge worn on a pilot's flying suit of No.4 Squadron in the 1980s. This badge belonged to Flt Lt Paul Gunnell whose initials are embroidered in the lower left hand corner of the badge.
Paul Gunnell was the top graduating pilot at RAF Cranwell in 1985. He flew British Aerospace Harriers GR3, GR5, GR7 & T4; and was based at RAF Valley, Wittering, Gutersloh and Belize. At Boscombe Down, he was part of the Harrier Strike Attack Operational Evaluation Unit developing tactics for night attacks; and testing equipment for Afghanistan including early night vision goggles. He left the RAF in 1994 for a career in the commercial sector.
