Trevor Birch trained as an electronics engineer and worked on airfield and air defence radar and with Rapier surface-to-air missiles at various locations in the UK and the Falkland Islands.

Trevor Birch trained as an electronics engineer and worked on airfield radar at RAF Wyton. He then worked with air defence radar at RAF Neatishead, Saxa Vord, Boulmer and Buchan. He outlines the different types of radar then in use for UK air defence. He trained on Rapier surface-to-air missiles at RAF Leuchars, was detached to the Falkland Islands and worked in procurement at RAF Brampton before leaving the RAF.
