Michael Smith explains how he joined the RAF before telling the story of how, while co-pilot of an Avro Vulcan bomber aircraft of 101 Squadron, operating from RAF Waddington, he and his crew were forced to abandon the aircraft following a double engine failure. He describes his own experience of ejecting from the aircraft and comments on an ejection seat cartridge, kept as a souvenir and signed by his crew.
