Chris Bradshaw describes his experience of RAF Sea King search and rescue helicopter operations in the UK and of the Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT), using Chinook helicopters in Afghanistan.
Chris Bradshaw served as a Royal Marine, returned to civilian life and then joined the RAF, training as a winchman in Sea King search and rescue helicopters. He describes paramedic training, comments on flying in bad weather and explains how he volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan with the Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT). He describes his experience of MERT operations and of the Chinook helicopters used for casualty evacuation flights.
