Recorded interview with Sergeant Norman Haill, 17 April 2026
Norman Haill served as a radar fitter at the Chain Home Extra Low radar station at St Davids Head, Carn Llidi on the Welsh coast during the Second World War.
Norman Haill joined the RAF in March 1944 and trained as a radar fitter at RAF Yatesbury. After completing his training he was posted to the Chain Home Extra Low radar station at Carn Llidi, St Davids Head on the Welsh coast. He describes the station, his own role and life in the area. He outlines his subsequent service in India before leaving the RAF and returning to civilian life.
