Recorded interview with Master Air Loadmaster Ken Cross, 30 April 2026
Ken Cross served in the RAF’s supply branch in the UK and overseas before retraining as an air loadmaster. He then participated in various operations in Lockheed Hercules transport aircraft.
Ken Cross joined the RAF in the supply branch, and after training at RAF Hereford he served at Stafford, Muharraq, Medmenham, in Northern Ireland and at Brize Norton. After training as aircrew he served as an air loadmaster in Hercules transport aircraft, including participation in the 1982 Falklands War, famine relief in Ethiopia in the mid-1980s and the 1991 Gulf War. He then served with 32 Squadron in Andover aircraft.
