112lb, Royal Laboratory, Mk. 7
The steel-cased 112lb Royal Laboratory high explosive bomb entered RAF service mid-way through the First World War.
Held onto the underside of aircraft wings in bomb carriers, the 112lb RL bomb proved a useful ground penetrating bomb, which was not phased out of RAF service until the mid-1930s. This example has been sectioned to show its internal workings, and was originally used as a training aid at the RAF Technical College, Henlow.
